T-Mobile Sidekick Getting Significent Software Update Chips
Source by Ed Hardy on Tuesday, June 17, 2008
T-Mobile is going to start distributing this week an Over The Air (OTA) update for the system software on the Sidekick LX. This will add a number of new features to this smartphone, mostly related to multimedia.
After this update has been installed, this model will allow users to:
- Record video with the built-in camera
- Play audio or video from the microSD card or an email attachment
- Use stereo Bluetooth headsets, hands-free car kits, etc.
- See a full overview of a web page, then zoom in on small sections
- Check their spelling
- And a number of other improvements
There's nothing proactive LX users can do to get this update sooner. It will automatically be sent to each device by T-Mobile.
More about the Sidekick LX
Possibly a better name for the Sidekick LX would be the "Sidekick 4", as this is the follow-up to the Sidekick 3 as the flagship model in this product line.
It boasts a number of firsts for this series, like a 3-inch, WQVGA (400 by 240 pixel) screen. This device also includes a 1.3 MB camera with flash and a microSD slot.
The Sidekick LX uses the standard Sidekick design, which includes a QWERTY keyboard and a flip-up screen.
